Elemental spirits have held power over the human world since its inception. The relationship, however, is symbiotic. Elfame is a fairy kingdom ruled by Melisandria and it is dying, the required ritual sacrifice is late. Elspeth Moore's family are bound to Elfame, every generation a child has been offered for sacrifice to renew Elfame's magical energy.
